I love big families. I always wanted 5 kids, I even wrote that in my high school Senior Memories book. I'm the oldest of 5, my dad is number 5 of 14, and I have over 50 first cousins. I guess you could say big families run in my family. hehe Even Greg's family is big, his mom is the oldest of 9.
There's just something indescribable about big families. There's always someone to talk to, someone to play with, someone to cause mischief with, someone else to take the blame. *winks* If you get tired of playing with your sister, you go play with your brother. Or your other sister. There's always enough people to play a board game, tag, or hide-n-seek. It's a built in play group, no phone calls and driving necessary.
"Family get togethers" always have a minimum of 30 people. I've never understood how anyone could celebrate Thanksgiving without at least 15 people crowded around the table. Think
My Big Fat Greek Wedding without the lamb. hehe
Cousins are the best people in the world. They are like your siblings, only cooler because you don't have to fight with them over the one bathroom in the house every morning. Since my kids don't have any first cousins their age, the A family pictured above seems to be our substitute. Hold on to your hats now, they have 6 boys, the oldest 7 1/2 years, the youngest 6 months. Their 2 cousins (ages 6 and 3 years, both boys) are also in the picture. So when we all get together, there are 13 children 7 years old and younger. It's a bit crazy, especially at meal times. But the amazing thing with that many children is that the adults actually have some peace and quiet. The older ones watch over the little ones to an extent and fights hardly ever start because if A doesn't want to play with Z, he plays with B instead. It's probably something you'd have to see to believe.
All that said, we're off to A's house for the day. Have a great weekend!
