You all already know I'm weird so this shouldn't come as a surprise: I love to do laundry. There's something satisfying about sorting the clothes, adding the proper amount of detergent to the wash, moving the clothes into the dryer where they come out smelling so clean and fresh. I like folding laundry even more. It requires me to slow down and rest for a few minutes as I lovingly put the kids' clothes into their piles and transfer them back to their closets and dresser drawers. As I fold, I like to remember the kids wearing the outfits: where we were, what we did, how cute they look in this color.
As a mom of 5, the laundry basket is often overflowing. I only have the blue basket pictured above. I've thought about buying a system with several bags so the kids could sort their dirty stuff themselves but oddly, this one basket works for me. I limit myself to doing laundry every 3 days and make myself complete it in that one day. The "get it all over at once" method works better for me than the "one load every day" way. Today's sorted loads were jackets, whites, jeans, darks, pastels, and towels. My sis and her husband actually have a black load. lol I plan to do the sheets/bedding on Monday which is another 3 loads (boys, girls, ours).
So I'm enjoying the empty basket. Because in 4 minutes and 30 seconds, it'll be full again. hehe
