If this is what summer vacation is going to be like, someone please shoot me now...

I don't know why I had this cheerful little image of the kids playing on the swingset and running through the sprinkler while I sit in the shade reading a good book. Instead so far we've run too many errands in the heat, the kids keep fighting over the two swings, kicking the bouncy balls over the fence, and playing in the garden dirt. I hate dirt with a passion. I hate giving the kids baths every single night and then cleaning the tub and stain sticking their clothes and scrubbing their shoes and wiping down all the dirty handprints on the walls. Every day. If we stay inside, they fight over the Nintendo, the Play Station, which movie TV channel to watch. Or start doing things they know they are not suppose to do like bouncing on the furniture or throwing toys. Can you hear me screaming yet? ARGH!!!

I can't keep up. I can't keep them distracted long enough to do anything I'm suppose to do like clean the house or heaven forbid, cook dinner. I have this giant list of things to do to make the house sellable on top of the usual daily crap. I feel like I'm sinking in quick sand.

I'm trying to come up with a good plan to work through all this crap but I can't get 5 minutes alone with my brain because the kids keep interrupting: "Can we go outside? When's dinner? Does Zach really get to pick all the rides at Disney World because it's his birthday? I want to play Nintendo and Ally won't let me! Emily won't share the legos! I have to go potty!" So I sort though that mess and say "okay brain, think" and then whole drama starts over again. *sigh*

Now I'm suppose to get everyone ready and drive over to an impromptu pool party for Greg's cousin. All I really want to do is shut the world out, curl up in bed with a good book and wish I was a hermit.
