There are some times that are better than others for contemplating life. Our lives are usually too busy for us to catch these moments and if forced, often nothing comes out of those tries. But sometimes everything comes together and you just open your mind and wonderful thoughts and realizations come to you.
Like a summer evening riding in a Jeep with the top down on an interstate past rolling fields of green. The sky is partially cloudy so the sun doesn't hurt your eyes, the hum of the engine comforts, the breeze tickles and cools the skin, the smell of ripening corn on the stalk calms the soul. There's nothing demanded of you, instead you are given time to feel, see, think, be.
It's then when you can see clearly. That life is not daily commutes to work, papers to fill out, bills to pay. It's not dishes to wash, clothes to fold, toys to pick up. Life is the moments when you love someone, listen to a friend, hold your child's hand. It's the excitement on Christmas morning, the awe on your child's face at a fireworks show, the cooing of a baby in your arms. Life is truly lived in those moments when you wish with all your heart that you could stop time and stay in that moment forever.
May your life be filled with so many of those moments that they outnumber the stars in the sky.
