Today is "sort through all the kids' clothes" day. It's really not the major undertaking that you might think. I'm actually 90% done already, I need to resort the garbage and Goodwill piles again and put the hand-me-down boxes back in the closets. I do this at least twice a year, usually once in late summer and again in early spring.
I'm really lucky that my children's birthday fall close together, Zach in Aug, Kyle in Sept, Kelly in Nov, Em and Ally in Dec. Why, you ask? Well it means hand-me-downs are in the correct size for the correct season and bonus, the correct gender. See Kelly is going into 3T this winter. Em and Ally were also in size 3T at 2 years old over the winter. If Kelly had been born in say, April, she would need 3T summer clothes, not 3T winter ones. Be frugal when you plan your children's birthdays. *winks*
This day always makes me a bit melancholy. I've already done the big traumatic baby clothes give away so today's not as bad as that. But there's still no need to keep Kelly's or Kyle's outgrown clothes so I have to give them away (I have extreme anti-pack rat policies). I have no clue why I'm so sentimental about clothes though. Maybe it has something to do with great memories happening while they were wearing those outfits. Or the outgrown outfits remind me how big they are getting and the fact that they aren't my babies anymore. *sigh*
Blah, two less than cheery posts in a row... I'll try to be snarky or annoyingly happy tomorrow. *winks*
