The house is clean, the bathroom light did not get bought (on tomorrow's to do list), and Emily and Ally's parent/teacher conferences are over.

After my initial reaction of "oh shit, what's wrong?" last week, I thought about it and guessed the reason for the meetings was probably their recognition of letters. I first realized they were having trouble back in March. We worked on it a bit (obviously not as much as I should have) and since starting kindergarten, they've always been able to tell me what letter they worked on that day. What I didn't do was check to see if they knew the letter from yesterday. Or the week before. And the answer probably would have been whiney "I don't know!"

Other than that, they are both doing well according to their teachers. They do occasionally tear up when frustrated (they do that to me too) but they know their shapes, colors, numbers, and play very well with others. Ally did a bit too much talking and tried a defiant stubborn act at the beginning (that's Ally Belle) but she's settled down. The teachers gave me some idea worksheets and explained some of the letter games they play so we'll be working on the alphabet here at home in the mornings.

So all together now, what's this letter? *holds up an alphabet flash card*
