So much for it being a better day... While we had lovely walk to the library and back, the day was pretty much a wash. Muddy kids, fights over Barbie doll clothes (what happened to the universal rule of naked Barbies), sticky keyboard (thanks for the suggestion SilverCreek Mom, I'll have to try that later), Greg won't be home until Friday instead of Thursday (he's at the main office in Maryland), and a broken computer. Well it wasn't really completely broken but now I can proudly say:
My computer is held together with duct tape.
(I wonder if I can get that on a bumper sticker.)
Okay, okay, so technically it's only one piece of the computer. And the duct tape wasn't completely necessary but it'll help keep the part in place so I won't go through all the fun of this afternoon again. (And no, it's not touching any wires or metal pieces or the motherboard for all you computer geeks who are currently hyperventilating.) I have this little USB port in the front of the computer and it wiggled itself loose and fell into the case. And not to bore you with all the details but it wasn't easy to get to and involved cursing, an out of state phone call, and accidentally teaching Kelly "oh shit." (Proud Mommy Moment right there. *sigh*) So to keep the USB port from wiggling loose again (you'd have thought the case manufacturer would have screwed the thing down but no...) I used a piece of duct tape.
So hey, my computer is held together with duct tape! Go me! Where's the vodka?
