I spoke too soon. Emily had a complete meltdown at soccer practice yesterday. I ignored the first little whining bit (the coach calmed her down quickly) but the second time she started screaming at her team mates and crying to beat the band. So I yanked her off the field as fast as you can say Mia Hamm and she spent the rest of practice (50 minutes of a hour) in the van. (She was forewarned this would happen if she acted up.)
It's frustrating, all the other kids (and Ally for the most part) play because they like soccer and seem to have fun during practice. Emily's like some extremely competitive freak perfectionist and whines/cries/screams when things aren't going exactly her way. Her "way" seems to be she has the ball and if she doesn't they better be passing it to her now, no one can dare take it away from her, her goal shot has to go in just so and no one better block it. Maybe team sports aren't her thing? Or she's still too immature for this? But then why was she okay playing soccer last year? Help?
