I've decided I wish I was Indian (as in someone from India).

That's the country the Brownie troop is presenting at Thinking Day this year. And I'm so jealous.

The cool colorful clothing, the jewels, mendhi (henna), bindis, the dancing. And the biggest trait that is making me envious is their skin tone. I'm so tired of being pasty white with freckles. And the sunburns with peeling and no tanning. Blech!

Although I'm not a big fan of Indian food other than rice.

I have to say it's great living in a culturally diverse area like our part of Maryland. We have two girls in the troop who parents or grandparents are directly from India. So all the girls are wearing authentic salwar kameez, bindis, and mendhi (henna) to our Thinking Day event this weekend, including me.

Yep, this pasty white Irish/English/German American girl is going to wear traditional Indian clothing. Too bad the great skin coloring doesn't come with it.
