I love computers. And the internet. Especially the internet. I may love the internet more than my children. Because the internet doesn't require me to go to 3 hour long baseball games that are so boring because it's basically watching a 9 year old throw balls and walk enough players around the bases to reach the 5 run limit per team per inning. Repeat twice for 6 innings. And the internet doesn't have 4 siblings who whine about being hot (or cold by a different child at the same time *eye twitching*) and want me to spend a gazillion dollars on candy and Gatorade at the concession stand. And while the concession stand sells Pepsi products, they don't sell Mountain Dew. Or hard liquor. They really need to do one or the other.

As much love as I have for computers and the internet, the feeling does not seem to be mutual today. Last night I left a bunch of brand new Word documents open pertaining to my business (namely wholesale order forms, price and fabric lists, wholesale terms, etc). Did I hit the lovely little "save" icon in the upper left hand corner before cheerfully going to Zach's baseball game? Nope. Did I do it when we returned home at 8pm when no one had eaten dinner and everyone needed showers because they were a dusty ball field mess? Nope. Exhausted and distracted I went to bed last night without saving several hours worth of work on my computer.

So you guessed it, my computer rebooted itself overnight. (I think it's an over heating/not cooling properly issue, I need to vacuum out the case and check all the fans.) For the life of me, I can't find the back up files and even if there are any automatic back up files. Note to self: enable automatic back up filing.

And then! If that wasn't enough! The internet connection isn't working on my computer. I'm currently on Greg's because this whole story is driving me batty enough that I'm dealing with his weird computer set up to blog (and check my email). His computer is hard wired, mine runs off the wireless router so it must be a router problem. I love the message that pops up after you've tried to repair the connection: "If this problem persists, please contact the person who manages your network." But that's me! And I've contacted myself (is that possible?) and I'm doing everything in my measly little power to fix the problem! ARGH!

It all boils down to I need a laptop. Then I would have taken my laptop along to the baseball game last night and finished the Word documents (and saved!). And if the home internet connection was acting wonky, I could just go to Starbucks or Panera or one of the hundred million hot spots in the area. Which funny enough, the ice rink where Zach plays hockey has free WiFi. Another reason I like ice hockey better than baseball. Although the ice rink doesn't sell Mountain Dew either.

Course the real problem is convincing my cheap ass self to actually buy a laptop. Seriously, I would like to at least pretend to be slightly profitable this year... I really should get back to sewing now but I'm a little nervous. Greg doesn't exactly have his own sewing machine that I could use as a back up if my current trend of screwing things up continues.
