As if time wasn't moving slowly enough, our power was out yesterday afternoon for more than 3 hours. There's nothing like a house full of kids annoyed by the fact there's no lights, WebKinz, or Nickelodeon. In order not to give into the urge to send them out in the thunderstorm with golf clubs, I hid with a battery powered lantern and began knitting a sock.

But what I really wanted to talk about is tomorrow the movers are coming here to start packing our stuff. The plan is they pack tomorrow and Monday, load the truck on Tuesday, and then they drive our stuff out to be delivered on Friday (or Saturday). On Friday afternoon at exactly 12:23, the kids and I are driving to Indiana. Or maybe 12:28 if I give them a quick potty break after getting off the bus.

The thing is we've never had professional movers pack for us. And being the semi-control freak that I am, this is really bugging me. I have a list of items they are not suppose to pack (some because I need them still like the vacuum cleaner & towels and others that are too sentimental like my grandmother's miniature tea set & sewing machine.) I don't like not knowing what to expect, anyone have some insights? Should I stay out of the way or sort of supervise? What's the best way to keep my "don't-pack" items from being packed?

Oh and in case you didn't notice, the kids and I will be without furniture for 4 days. I'm trying not to think about that too much. I imagine it's going to kinda be like yesterday's power outage... (Kinda crazy and a bit annoying.)
